Confucius Classrooms

The Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota, in cooperation with the Hanban, invites K-12 schools in Minnesota to consider offering expanded or new Chinese language and cultural programming through a Confucius Classroom project in your school.

Confucius Classroom awards (typically between $30,000 and $50,000) will be granted to selected projects. Project proposals will be evaluated on the content of the programming, how many students the programs will reach, what support will be offered to teachers, or how the programming brings enhanced opportunities for your community to engage with Chinese language and culture.

Awards are contingent on final approval and funding available.

Submitting a Proposal

The deadline for funding for the 2009-2010 academic year (September-June) is Friday, May 15, 2009. A complete proposal includes the following:

• Application
• Project budget
• Two-page program description
• Tax Except Certificate
• University of Minnesota Vendor Authorization Form
• IRS Form W-9
